What is Bruxism?

Medically, the term bruxism describes the condition where a person involuntarily and habitually grinds their teeth, most often in their sleep. Aesthetically, bruxism causes hypertrophy of your jaw muscle called the masseter muscle, often resulting in a square, widened lower face.

How does bruxism impact our health and appearance?

Bruxism can wear down our teeth, causing dental sensitivity, along with persistent stiffness and jaw pain. Many times, dental intervention is necessary. Along with a night guard, further prevention and preservation can be made through injections into the overactive muscle.

The overactive masseter muscle can result in a physical enlargement of the muscle, making our lower face appear wider, with a square jawline. With our injection treatment, the muscle will be relaxed and give us a slimmer, v-line appearance.
