What is the PDO Thread Lift?

The PDO Threads are used as an alternative procedure to a surgical facelift for lifting sagging skin around the face, neck and jawline. PDO threads are also used in different areas in the body as well, including arms, knees and buttocks. PDO (polydioxanone) threads are synthetic, absorbable, and biocompatible sutures that are administered into the skin to lift, tighten, and stimulate neocollagenesis. Though PDO threads were originally FDA-approved to be used as surgical sutures during cardiac surgery, they are also FDA-approved to be used in a nonsurgical way in our clinic for skin rejuvenation by stimulating collagen growth, firming the skin and providing tightening and lift to the area(s) of concern.

At Mosaddegh Aesthetic Institute, PDO threads are used to address laxity around the mid and lower face (cheek), forehead/brow, jawline, neck, lips, perioral lines (smoker’s line), nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, décolletage, and body.

Is a Thread Lift right for me?

If you are looking for a conservative approach to bring back a youthful and refreshed appearance, thread lifting may be right for you. You are a candidate for a PDO thread lift if you have drooping, aging skin around your eyes, brows, cheeks, around your mouth, chin, and neck. Threads are an excellent option for those who desire to tighten their skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and achieve a more lifted, youthful appearance. Ideal candidates are those who are not interested or ready for a surgical facelift surgery, and are those who have realistic expectations for the outcomes achievable with a nonsurgical option instead. Patients who are non-smokers, and dedicated to maintain a consistent weight are the best patients for this procedure. Your initial appointment with us will be a consultation to determine your candidacy, assess your needs, create an individualized treatment plan, and to answer any further questions you may have.

Why choose the PDO Thread Lift?

The PDO Thread lift is growing in popularity for many reasons. Patients love their PDO thread lift because:

The results look natural. The PDO thread lift leaves no scars. The biocompatible threads will absorb into the body within 4-7 months of treatment, with additional improvement achieved over time as it stimulates collagen production in the area that the threads are placed.

It gives you the results you want. Whether you need a light lift or major improvement, your PDO thread lift procedure will be tailored to meet your goals and needs of your appearance.

The procedure can treat many areas. Patients can tighten and lift their lower face, neck, jawline, brows, cheeks, or areas of their body like the knees or stomach.

It is a perfect option for patients who want to address their facial aging without surgery. Patients who are not interested in or ready for a surgical procedure, like a facelift, can get long-lasting antiaging outcomes with a PDO thread lift.

Thread lifts are versatile. PDO thread lift is easily combined with additional rejuvenating procedures, like Botox and fillers, for a one-stop complete rejuvenation treatment.

Very little downtime is required. Patients will want to avoid exaggerated facial movements for the first week of recovery. Some swelling and bruising can occur, but patients are free to return to their daily activities same-day if they choose.

Is there downtime with the Thread Lift procedure?

After treatment, some patients may experience swelling, bruising, pain to the treatment site that may subside within a few days to a week.

What results can I expect?

Like with many non-surgical procedures, the final results and lasting outcome are dependent on the quality of the skin, the degree of aging, lifestyle of the patient and the number of threads used. You will see an improvement in the lift and contour of your skin within the first week of your thread lift. With every passing week, your results will improve as the threads stimulate collagen production which in time will replace the threads that dissolve within 4-7 months. Your PDO threads will leave your skin lifted, tightened, and volumized. Results may last up to three years, but patients can extend the results of their threads with subsequent treatments.
