What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
Platelet Rich Plasma is derived from spinning down your blood in a centrifuge and extracting a concentrated layer of something called, “Platelet Growth Factors” (PGF). This is the component of your blood that carry natural healing properties and can promote rejuvenation to the area of the skin and hair that is being treated. It is widely used in medicine to restore structure and healing to the tissue. Due to the nature of it being your own blood, it is a popular and safe treatment for patients who are cautious about introducing foreign products/medications into their body but are still in search to address hair thinning/loss, or improvement in the condition of their skin (tone, texture, elasticity, scarring).
What is PRP treatment?
This treatment requires drawing your blood and spinning the blood down in a centrifuge to separate a portion of your blood that has the highest concentration of platelet growth factors. It is then injected back into the desired treatment area, whether it is into the scalp to address hair thinning or to your skin in order to stimulate and promote collagen production, healing, and overall rejuvenation.
How many treatments will I need?
Results can be seen even after a single treatment but most people are recommended a course of 3-6 sessions at 4 weeks apart for optimal results.
